PATTON, Mo. -- Virgie Marie Cook, 92, of Patton, Mo., died Saturday, March 1, 2003, at Perry County Nursing Home in Perryville, Mo. She was born Dec. 13, 1910, in Patton, daughter of Jessa and Eliza Seabaugh Doggett. She and Elbert Earl Cook were married May 3, 1933. He died Feb. 28, 1973...

PATTON, Mo. -- Virgie Marie Cook, 92, of Patton, Mo., died Saturday, March 1, 2003, at Perry County Nursing Home in Perryville, Mo.

She was born Dec. 13, 1910, in Patton, daughter of Jessa and Eliza Seabaugh Doggett. She and Elbert Earl Cook were married May 3, 1933. He died Feb. 28, 1973.

Mrs. Cook attended the Will Mayfield College in Marble Hill. She taught school in Bollinger County and retired as an assistant cook for the Patton School District.

She was a member of the Happy Old People in Patton and the Patton United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Leroy Welker of Perryville; two grandsons, David (Denise) Welker of Festus, Mo., and Keith (Tammy) Welker of Perryville; three grandchildren, Claire, Holly and Ethan Welker; three stepgrandchildren, Jacob, Jony and Jany.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, a son, Loyd Earl Cook, a daughter, Verdetta Kathryn Cook, three brothers, John, Marvin and Bill Doggett, seven sisters, Gertie Yount, Emma Bangert, Odessa Robinson, Eunice Oberlin, Nettie Mayfield, Eleavanor Lincoln and Stella Shearer.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Patton. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Fred Rister officiating. Burial will follow in the Patton Cemetery.
