ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Wilma E. Meinz, 78, of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. She was born Feb. 11, 1925, in Farrar, Mo., daughter of Theodore M. and Lydia Bachmann Mangels. She and Curt J. Meinz were married Dec. 5, 1943, in Cape Girardeau...

ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Wilma E. Meinz, 78, of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born Feb. 11, 1925, in Farrar, Mo., daughter of Theodore M. and Lydia Bachmann Mangels. She and Curt J. Meinz were married Dec. 5, 1943, in Cape Girardeau.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg, Golden Agers American Legion Auxiliary Post 133, and a former member of LWML Trinity Lutheran Sunday school teachers.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Richard C. Meinz of Kalamazoo, Mich., Verlin R. Meinz of Minonka, Ill.; a daughter, Kathy Kiefner of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Alfred Mangels of Winside, Neb., Reinhold Mangels of St. Louis; two sisters, Ruth Verseman of Crystal Lake, Ill., Alice Bachmann of Perryville; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Young & Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg with the Rev. Ronald Paseur officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
