Economic development

I'M CALLING about a water park in Cape Girardeau. When we got one in Farmington, all of the people of Southeast Missouri came to use the park, and it basically paid for itself, not to mention the new jobs and revenue it brought.

Our only hope

PRESIDENT BUSH and his allies represent the only hope today for law-abiding citizens and all peace-loving people of the world who refuse to live under the threat of terrorism. These terrorists and their sponsors must be eliminated if the world is ever to have peace again.

A matter of choice

OF COURSE no one wants war. But when it's forced on you, you either fight or live in fear of attack. You really have no choice but to fight the danger and eliminate it.

For the future

THE ECONOMY and education will not determine America's future if terrorists are allowed to attack us and the rest of the world. Terrorism and their sponsors have to dealt with before there can be any future.

It's propaganda

Republican cuts

DID YOU read the headlines about the Republican legislative panel voting to cut child insurance? That just goes to show you who's side Republican are on. Why don't they pick on somebody their own size? They pick on the poor. They pick on the children who need health care. You better get out and vote, and I mean vote in numbers.

Teaching self-esteem

A CALLER said schools are teaching self-esteem. There are two ways to teach self-esteem. One is to teach through success and achievement, which is the normal way. That is the law of natural consequences to your actions. Another way is what's called false self-esteem. Just continually tell kids how good they are even if they're not able to do anything worthy of praise. False self-esteem inflates the ego for no reason. Every child should feel good about himself, but he should feel good for a valid reason. Every child should be praised and encouraged for what he is able to do.

West Coast prices

TO THE person complaining about gasoline being so high: Just be lucky you're not living out in California where it's over $2 a gallon.

$6 million savings

IF CAPAHA pool is in such disrepair, why not build a new city pool for $500,000? This would save the taxpayers $6 million.
