Michael admitted having sex with a 53-year-old woman last June without informing her about the virus, which causes AIDS. Michael told police he had informed the woman the morning after.

A second count involving a 43-year-old woman was dismissed.

At the time of the crime, it was still considered a Class D felony, punishable by a maximum of five years in prison, Greene County assistant prosecutor Darick Hemphill said. Now, it would be a Class B felony, with a minimum sentence of five years and a maximum of 15 years in prison.
