The Jackson School District will hold the second in a series of community meetings at 7 p.m. tonight at Jackson Middle School with topics to include renovating the high school.

According to superintendent Dr. Ron Anderson, the meeting will be a continuation of topics discussed at their first meeting on Jan. 30.

"This is really a confirmation of information collected at the last meeting," Anderson said. "We have a very strong belief that schools reflect the community. The more the community is involved in sharing ideas, the more impact they'll have on our decisions for the future."

Information taken from three committees -- student performance, school operations and parent/community involvement -- will be reviewed and discussed, including expansion of programs, career planning, safety, facilities, class size, new student orientation and volunteer programs.

As part of those discussions, Anderson will offer an overview of the district's plans to renovate Jackson High School.

District officials have been meeting regularly with representatives from the city council, city library and Riverside Regional Library to consider a joint-venture community center and school/city/regional library.

"We're exploring our options right now. Nothing has been decided," Anderson said. "However, we're going to try to pick up the pace a little."
