Woody Maupin, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, March 28, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 26, 1921 at Shelbina, Mo., son of Arthur and Mame Clay Maupin. He and Mary Johnson were married January 22, 1960 in Cape Girardeau.
Maupin was a heavy-equipment operator for Local 513. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of Sovereign Grace Church and a member of the VFW Post 3838.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Jack Kennedy Maupin, of Cape Girardeau; two stepsons, Timothy Raymond Yow of Charleston, Ill., and Mark Alan Yow of Chatham, Ill.; a step-daughter, Darla June Franklin, of Lincoln, Ill.; a brother, Thomas Clay Maupin, of Shelbina, Mo.; a sister, Margaret Ann Patterson of Sikeston, Mo.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Drew Dietz officiating. Burial will be at the Fairmount Cemetery, with military graveside rites by the VFW Post 3838.
