We live on Mount Auburn Road and were the victims of a theft. Someone stole our 8-foot-tall inflatable Easter bunny out of our yard on Thursday night. To those who took it, I'm sure it's just a bunny. But to my 74-year-old mother who lives here too, it was an Easter gift from my husband and me.

You see, my mother has been very ill for the past year. Things to be happy about this year have been few and far between. My husband and I go out of our way to make my mother smile any chance we get. She really enjoyed looking out and seeing her rabbit and the smiles it brought to others when they drove down our street.

When she noticed the bunny was gone Friday morning, she was in tears. I would gladly buy her another one, but we bought it on a shopping spree out of town, and it was the last one. I would hope that whoever did this would return it to us promptly. If anyone knows anything about this, please let your conscience guide you to either return him or contact the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
