During the recent dedication of the Cemetery of the Innocents, it is my understanding that the Cape Girardeau Police Department received a complaint about parking along the street. The police officer who was dispatched was doing his job in following up on the complaint. Although some didn't think he handled the situation properly, there also were some adults there who didn't handle the situation like adults. I personally thanked the officer for letting us finish the service of dedication.

The officer asked me to tell whoever was in charge next time to contact the station and get a permit. Steps are being taken to see that this problem doesn't happen again. I apologize for any inconvenience we have caused others. It was a very beautiful dedication.
