ADVANCE, Mo. -- Mary "Frances" Matheney, 80, of Bell City, Mo., died Saturday, April 26, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Aug. 28, 1922, at Pleasant Grove, Mo., daughter of Oscar and Nancy Elizabeth Bennett Vickens.

She had been a machine operator at the International Hat Factory in Oran, Mo., for 25 years. She attended Bell City General Baptist Church. She and Vernal "Goog" Matheney were married Aug. 19, 1942, and he died Jan. 22, 1999.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Matheney of Bell City; three daughters, Nancy Clary, Kay Daniels and Judy Green, all of Bell City; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and a great-granddaughter.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with Mike Triplett officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
