John R. Baldwin, 69, of Jackson died Friday, April 25, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 25, 1933, in Vincennes, Ind., son of Ralph M. and Benna B. Holmes Baldwin. He and Wilma J. Compton were married June 4, 1955, in Vincennes.

Baldwin was a member of the First Christian Church in Cape Girardeau. He served in the U.S. Air Force from June 3, 1952, to June 2, 1956, serving during the Korean War. He was employed at the Indianapolis Center in Indianapolis, Ind. He then worked at the airport in Farmington, Mo. Next, he worked as an air traffic controller for the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport from 1960 to 1986. After retirement from the airport, he worked at Mercantile Bank for 10 years.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma J. Baldwin of Jackson; a son, J. Steven Baldwin of Jackson; two daughters, Angela G. Parks of Jackson and Jennifer L. Baldwin of Franklin, Tenn.; two sisters, Virginia L. Price of Abilene, Texas, and Bonnie Earhart of Brownsburg, Ind.; and four grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. David Felty officiating. Military services will be performed by VFW Post 3838.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
