The Plaza Tire Capahas played nearly flawless defense and banged out 13 hits in an 8-5 road win Wednesday against Fairview Heights, Ill. The Plaza Tire Capahas played nearly flawless defense and banged out 13 hits in an 8-5 road win Wednesday against Fairview Heights, Ill.

The Capahas (15-6) host the NBC Mid-South Regional Tournament beginning Friday at Capaha Park.

Lanson DeBrock picked up the win with 5 2/3 innings of four-hit work. DeBrock struck out four, walked four and allowed three earned runs. Chad Bogenpohl pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings, and Josh Parham allowed a run on two hits in the ninth.

Plaza Tire committed just one error after making eight in two losses against Wichita over the weekend.

Levi Olson led Plaza Tire's 13-hit attack with three hits and two RBIs. Robby Moore, Lance Seasor, Bryan Kurt and Bryan Ingram had two hits apiece. Ingram added two RBIs.

Plaza Tire used wood bats while Fairview Heights used aluminum.

Jackson Legion wins two

The Jackson American Legion team swept a doubleheader from district foe Sikeston.

Tyler Beussink pitched a one-hit shutout in a 4-0 win in the opener. Beussink struck out six and walked four.

In the second game, Jackson (19-12) scored two in the bottom of the sixth for a 3-2 win. Austin Morrison pitched all seven innings for the win. Morrison allowed five hits, struck out three and walked three.

Scott County sweeps

Scott County American Legion swept Charleston Senior Babe Ruth in a wood bat doubleheader.

Andy Stephens pitched four innings in a 7-3 win in the opener. Caleb Daughettee pitched a no-hitter in a 3-0 win in the second game.

Junior results

Sixth-seeded Scott County (Medicap) upset No. 3 Jackson 6-4 in the first round of the American Legion District 14 junior tournament at Chaffee.
