Outfielder Scott Podsednik of the Chicago White Sox and Astros pitcher Roy Oswalt earned the final spots on the All-Star teams in Internet fan voting completed Wednesday.

Podsednik edged Yankees captain Derek Jeter for the 32nd roster spot on the American League squad. The major league leader in stolen bases also beat outfielders Torii Hunter of Minnesota, Hideki Matsui of New York and Carl Crawford of Tampa Bay.

Oswalt, 11-7 with a 2.44 ERA, topped four other NL pitchers: San Diego's Trevor Hoffman, Arizona's Brandon Webb, and Philadelphia's Billy Wagner and Brett Myers.

Red Sox make moves

The Boston Red Sox are sending Curt Schilling to the bullpen to plug a gap there and help him work his way back from an ankle injury.

Schilling has been on a minor-league rehab assignment while trying to recover from a right ankle injury that put him on the disabled list after just three starts. In his last rehab start Monday, he struggled through five innings with Class AAA Pawtucket. He will pitch today there in relief.

Closer Keith Foulke was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday, and he returned to Boston to have both knees examined and find out whether an injury is causing his struggles.

Rogers apologizes

Texas Rangers pitcher Kenny Rogers apologized on Wednesday for last week's tirade against two TV cameramen that sent one of them to the hospital and prompted a police investigation.

Rogers, who is appealing his 20-game suspension for the outburst, apologized to fans and the cameramen in his first public comments since the June 29 incident. He declined to take questions, and said he was speaking against the advice of his lawyer.

"I feel compelled to come before you and express my deep regret for my actions," Rogers said. "An incident that should have never occurred."
