Dates set for City of Roses Music Festival

The City of Roses Music Festival will take place Sept. 23 and 24 in downtown Cape Girardeau this year. Organizers are currently working out plans and booking entertainment for the event. Those interested in helping with the festival can attend a planning meeting Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Old Town Cape office.

Registration for two workshops this month are currently being accepted at The Artist Studio, 38A N. Main St. Spaces are available for a workshop beginning Monday on watercolor and a workshop starting July 18 on drawing and painting for children. Sikeston museum hopes to draw rodeo fans

SIKESTON, Mo. -- The Sikeston Depot Museum, 116 W. Malone Ave., is hoping some of the thousands of people in town for this year's Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo will be up for some art viewing. The museum will hold the "Cowboy Up!" Arts Festival Aug. 11 to 14 and is currently seeking artists, crafters and vendors for the event. Performer to showcase history of Cairo in Cobden

COBDEN, Ill. -- Performer Stace England will perform July 16 at 8:30 p.m. at the Yellow Moon Cafe, 110 Front St., putting on a show that emphasizes the history of Cairo through full-band music and other media. Preceding England's performance will be a showing of the new documentary "Cairo, A City Caught Between the Tides," by John Njagi.

Mystery series author at library to sign books

Author Susan Wittig Albert, best known for her series "The Victorian Mysteries" and her mystery series featuring herb expert China Bayles, will be at the Cape Girardeau Public Library Monday at 7 p.m. for a book signing and to talk about her work. Registrations are required and can be made by calling the library at 334-5279.

Cache River Art and Wine Festival July 16

BELKNAP, Ill. -- The second annual Cache River Art and Wine Festival will be held July 16 and 17 at the Cache River Basin Vineyard and Winery in Belknap. More than 50 artists will be displaying, demonstrating and selling their art and six Southern Illinois wineries will be present for tastings. Register now for wire wrap jewelry class

Registrations are currently being accepted for a class on wire wrap jewelry with instructor Pat Judd to be held at Garden Gallery at the corner of Broadway and Pacific Street. The class will be held July 20 from 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, call the gallery at 332-7123.

Cape bluegrass group to play at Wappapello

WAPPAPELLO, Mo. -- The Happy Four, a traditional bluegrass group from Cape Girardeau, will perform Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at the Lake Wappapello Outdoor Theatre along with The Riverman Gospel Quartet. For more information, call (573) 222-8083.
