Choral union seeks voices for upcoming season

The Southeast Missouri State University Choral Union, a non-auditioned ensemble open to community and collegiate singers, is looking for new members for all vocal sections for its 2005-2006 concert season. The season will include two performances, a concert Nov. 29 with the Southeast Missouri Symphony Orchestra of Francis Poulenc's "Gloria," and a May 2 concert with the orchestra of Mozart's Requiem. Rehearsals are held from 7 to 8:50 p.m. Tuesdays in Brandt Music Hall on the Southeast campus beginning Sept. 6. For more information, call 651-2141 or 651-2345.

River City Players present 'A Few Good Men'

The River City Players community theater group will present Aaron Sorkin's "A Few Good Men" dinner theater Aug. 19, 20, 26 and 27 at Port Cape Girardeau. Show-only dates will be Aug. 24 and 25. Call Port Cape at 334-0954 for reservations.

Redneck BBQ Cookoff set for Saturday

SIKESTON, Mo. -- The 11th annual Redneck BBQ Cookoff will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Clinton Community Building in Sikeston. Events include a BBQ competition, craft shows, quilt shows and a redneck dog show. For more information, call (573) 471-2498.

Dance camp puts on show Saturday, Sunday

The Worship Dance Camp with Grace, under the direction of Dana Goodin Vanoni of the Dance Theatre Ensemble of Carnago, Italy, will present its culminating performance Saturday and Sunday at 8 p.m. at the Rose Theatre on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. The performance, titled "Not So Far to Where You Are," is a performance of religious dance featuring members of the Italian dance ensemble and dance camp students. Two nights of bluegrass at Lake Wappapello

WAPPAPELLO, Mo. -- The Lake Wappapello Outdoor Theatre in Wappapello will feature The Dements Bluegrass Band tonight and Just Us Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. Also appearing Saturday will be the Riverman Quartet. For more information on the concerts, call (573) 222-8083.

Route 66 Association to tour Missouri roads

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Route 66 Association of Missouri will hold its annual motor tour Sept. 9 to 11 starting in Springfield, Mo., and ending in Villa Ridge, Mo. Old Iron Works Days coming in October
