Arrowhead Campground holding musical event

Pure Country Radio and Arrowhead Campground will hold a classic country music event from 1 to 10 p.m. Saturday. Camping is available. Bring lawn chairs. No alcohol or drugs will be permitted. Smelterville, May Greene reunion set for Saturday

A reunion for all former residents of Smelterville and students, teachers and principals of May Greene School will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at May Greene School. Hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and drinks will be provided. No alcoholic beverages will be allowed. Bring lawn chairs and old pictures.

Community contra dance being held at church

A potluck meal celebrating the Nitsch family reunion will begin at 11 a.m. Sept. 18 at Jackson City Park, shelter No. 6.

Jackson class of '45 meets this month

The Jackson High School class of 1945 will celebrate its 60th reunion Sept. 23 at the Knights of Columbus, lower hall, 3305 N. High St., Jackson. Registration will be at 5 p.m. For more information, call Betty Myer at 243-3712.

Reunion to be held at Post Oak Church

A 12:30 p.m. meal is planned for the Crites and Bollinger reunion on Sunday at Post Oak Church off Highway 72 near Meadow Heights School in Patton, Mo. Bring a covered dish, chair, pictures and family history.

Parents can get children fingerprinted at fair

Farmers Insurance agents Barb Curnell-Herndon and Leslie Sadler will be fingerprinting children at their booth at the SEMO District Fair in the Arena Building from 3 to 9 p.m. Sept. 10 to 17 with the exception of Monday, when they will return to the booth after the parade.

Wild horses and burros will be up for adoption

Free health screenings at Wal-Mart, Sam's Club

The diabetes "Aware and Care" event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 24 at Wal-Mart and Sam's Club stores nationwide. The event will provide customers free health screenings, including blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure tests.

More than 50 attend Friedrich reunion

The Friedrich reunion was held at Delmonico's in Jackson Aug. 21. Fifty-two attended from Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Oak Ridge, Leopold and surrounding communities. Fred Nebel of Cape Girardeau, 90, was the oldest in attendance; Ashley Hillis of Tulin, Mo., 7 months, was the youngest; Paul and Maxine Friedrich of Jackson had the biggest family with six children; traveling the farthest was Cherry Hinderberger of Columbia, Mo. Next year the reunion will be held Aug. 22 at Delmonico's.
