Hollis Minton

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Hollis L. Minton, 87, of Marble Hill died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005, at his home.

He was born April 9, 1918, at Alzey, Ky., son of Walter D. and Mattie Pulliam Minton. He and Ellen Sammons were married April 9, 1936, at St. Louis. She died Jan. 25, 2005.

He was an auto and diesel mechanic prior to retiring.

Survivors include five sons, Hollis Lee Minton Jr. of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Richard Minton of Bourbonnais, Ill., Patrick Minton of Jackson, Walter Minton of Marble Hill, James Minton of Scott City; three daughters, Mary Ellen Fugate of Ottawa, Ill., Naomi Gulino of Houston, Texas, Martha Sue McDonald of Greenfield, Mo., a brother, James Minton of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Mary Shafer of Thebes, Ill., Thelma Smothers, Ruth Rosenthal, both of Olive Branch, Ill.; and 22 grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Fred Ritter officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Thebes, Ill.
