Author to discuss thriller at Sikeston Depot
Sikeston native Barbara Watkins, author of the newly published book "Behind the Red Door," will discuss the road from inspiration to publication at 7 p.m. today at The Sikeston Depot, 116 W. Malone Ave.
The Grossheider family reunion will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Zion Lutheran Parish Hall, Highway 25 south of Gordonville. Attendees should bring two dishes and table service. A family fall festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 5 at New Vision Counseling, 619 N. Broadview St., Cape Girardeau. Fun, food, a sound system, inflatable toys, games, activities for children will be included. The fire department, ambulance, DARE and the air evacuation helicopter will be there to educate children. The private students of Brenda Seyer will display artwork during November in the Hirsch community room of the Cape Girardeau Public Library. Students range from 5 years in age to adult. Work may be viewed during regular library operating hours when the room is not otherwise in use.
Kathy Swan was recently elected as Zonta Club of Cape Girardeau lieutenant governor of district 7 for the 2006-2008 biennium. Swan is the first member of Zonta Club of Cape Girardeau to serve in this capacity. The district encompasses Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Kansas and Missouri. Swan will take office after the International Convention in Australia in June 2006.

The Maple United Methodist Church will hold a holiday bazaar from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 12 at Fellowship Hall at the corner of Jean Ann Drive and Cape Rock Drive. A live auction is set for 10 a.m. Crafts, sweet shop, "New to You" shop, holiday decorations and a bigger and better breakfast and lunch will be offered.
