A Jackson man was charged with multiple felonies on Thursday when he reportedly tried to run a truck into his 87-year-old grandmother's house. Erik M. Marshall, 27, was charged with felony counts of domestic assault, burglary and theft, and misdemeanor counts of property damage and driving while intoxicated. He is being held on a $15,000 cash-only bond.

According to the probable cause statement, on Wednesday morning at 676 Bella Vista Drive, a granddaughter called in the incident shortly after she arrived to help her grandmother. Marshall had entered his grandmother's house without permission and became highly upset when she locked him out. He then turned on all the water faucets outside the residence, banged on the front door and screamed to be let in. When the granddaughter arrived, he struck her and told her to move her vehicle. He and a friend left in a truck. Shortly thereafter, Marshall drove the truck through a neighbor's yard, jumped a retaining wall, crossed over his grandmother's driveway and stopped in her front yard.

Marshall fled when police arrived and was arrested at his residence. According to the statement, officers suspected he was possibly on drugs, observing glassy and watery eyes, dilated pupils and slurred speech.

Follow-up investigations determined that Marshall allegedly broke into his grandmother's home through a window, the statement said. Several of his grandmother's items were recovered from the ground and Marshall's residence.
