Rams cornerback Terry Fair, whose comeback bid was stalled by a neck injury, on Thursday was placed on injured reserve, ending his season.

Fair, a first-round pick in 1998 by the Lions, didn't play in 2003 or 2004 due to injuries. He was injured late in the preseason and was limited to five games, serving mainly as a kickoff and punt returner with spot duty in the secondary, this year.

He was the second player placed on injured reserve in two days. A concussion landed offensive lineman Blaine Saipaia on IR on Wednesday.

Fair was injured at Detroit on Aug. 29 in the next-to-last preseason game. He reinjured the neck on a kickoff return two weeks ago at Houston.

"I don't think it's been right really since the Detroit game," Fair said. "It never healed the way it should have."
