Struggling offensively is generally not a formula for success when trying to upset the Ohio Valley Conference's most potent offensive team.

Southeast Missouri State, mired in a shooting slump all season, shot 39.7 percent and lost 79-65 to Tennessee Tech on Saturday at the Show Me Center.

Tech, the defending OVC regular-season champion, improved to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in league play by posting its sixth straight win.

The Redhawks (3-4, 1-2) started well, hitting eight of their first 16 shots. They built a pair of early eight-point leads at 13-5 and 18-10.

Southeast then hit a drought as Tech steadily gained control, falling behind 40-27 late in the half before scoring the final seven points to pull within 40-34 at the intermission.

The Redhawks were still hanging around, trailing 44-38 early in the second half, when the Eagles used a 16-0 run to turn the contest into a rout at 60-38.

Senior Ketshner Guerrier scored a career-high 13 points to lead Southeast, hitting six of nine shots. He had 11 rebounds.

Freshman guard Eric Jones had by far his best game at Southeast, coming off the bench to score 12 points before leaving with 6 minutes left in the second half after suffering an apparent leg injury.

Senior guard Roy Booker added 11 points.
