MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Leon Junior Campbell, 79, of Marble Hill died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005, at his home.

He was born March 3, 1926, at Park Hills, Mo., son of William Preston and Edith Hart Campbell. He and Ruby Duncan were married Dec. 18, 1948, at Patton, Mo.

Campbell worked several years at Doe Run Mining Co. He was a member of Point Pleasant General Baptist Church.

He served with the 42 Rainbow Division during World War II, and was awarded a Purple Heart.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael Campbell of Glenallen, Mo.; two daughters, Sherry Green of Marble Hill, Carol Rhodes of Cape Girardeau; a brother, James Campbell of Park Hills; a sister, Leona Sherman of Belleville, Ill.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.

Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Gene Robbins and Bud Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors by Missouri Honor Guard.
