Dr. William Miller Ueleke, 54, of Oxford, Miss., died on Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
He was born Oct. 13, 1951, in Cape Girardeau, son of Milton and Mary E. Miller Ueleke.
He and Laura Cannon were married on Dec. 4, 1982, in Canton, Miss.
Dr. Ueleke was the coordinator at Communicare in Water Valley, Miss. He had devoted his career to the service of mankind and the treatment of the chronically mentally ill. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Canton, where he was a deacon and taught Sunday school. He was a member of the Lions Club and had been active in the formation of the Madison County Youth Drug Court.
He is survived by his wife, Laura, of Oxford; a son, Matthew Miller Ueleke of Oxford; and his mother of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by his father, Milton Ueleke.
Visitation was held Wednesday at Coleman Funeral Home in Oxford, with a brief prayer service after visitation. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Canton, with the Rev. Geoffrey McLean officiating. Coleman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 202 E. Peace St., Canton, Miss. 39046 or to UMC Public Affairs Division, 2500 N. State St., Jackson, Miss. 39216, with the check designation being "cancer research."
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Centenary United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Jeffrey Long officiating. Burial will at Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
