James S. Bone, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born June 29, 1919, in Clinton, Ky., son of William Virgil and Jo Anna Stone Bone. He and Winifred Axelson were married March 1, 1946, in Cairo, Ill. She died Feb. 8, 2001.

Bone worked for Keebler Co. 25 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of VFW Post 3838.

He served with the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James and Donna Bone Jr. of Cape Girardeau; a daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Robert W. Erlbacher II of Cape Girardeau; grandson, Robert W. Erlbacher III of Jackson; granddaughter, Cassandra (Michael) Bernal of Tucson, Ariz.; grandson, Greg (Christi Halbert) Bone of Jackson; grandson, Carl (Rebecca) Bone of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; and great-grandchildren, Alexis and Erica of Jackson.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to service time Friday.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Short officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum with military rites by VFW Post 3838.
