An Illinois man who allegedly made death threats was arrested without incident on Thursday at the SEMO Hairstyling Academy. Erik Vassar, 30, allegedly threatened to kill every one on Wednesday at the beauty salon at 904 Broadway, said police spokesman Jason Selzer. The next day, he walked back into the store and demanded money that he was owed, Selzer said. A caller from inside the salon said that Vassar kept reaching into his jacket "like he had a gun," Selzer said, but no gun was found on him when three officers arrived on the scene and arrested him. City charges are pending for assault and peace disturbance, Selzer said. And Vassar was also arrested on a Mississippi County warrant for failure to appear for possession of marijuana and speeding. The owner of the salon, Erik Brown, could not be reached for comment on Thursday.
