Donald Dean Bock, 70, of Gordonville passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, where he had been a resident the past three years.

He was born Oct. 14, 1935, near Gordonville, son of Alvin and Ruby Louise Willa Bock. He and Alma Schweer were married July 8, 1956, in Jackson. She survives.

Don graduated from Jackson High School in 1954 where he was an avid football player. He was a farmer in the Whitewater community, and was a former member of Cape County Farm Bureau Board. He was a former member and treasurer of Delta School Board, former member of Cape Girardeau County Coon Hunters Association, and former committeeman for Hubble Township ASCS Committee.

He was owner and operator of an 18-wheeler, specializing in livestock transportation from 1982 to 1995. Don was a member of Whitewater Masonic Lodge, an honorary member of Delta FFA, and was a Republican committeeman for Whitewater Precinct. He was a lifelong member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson, where he was active in the Men's Fellowship, was a former church councilman, serving as a communion usher.

In addition to his wife of 49 years, loving survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Frank Trankler, and Pam and Scott Reynolds all of Jackson; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Shirley Bock of Gordonville; a sister and brother-in-law, LaDonia and Stanley Beggs; and his mother, all of Jackson.

Loving survivors also include four grandchildren; Lance (Samantha) Trankler, Natalie Trankler, and Kyle and Garret Reynolds.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Those serving as honorary pallbearers are Lester Maevers, Melvin Heise, Clem Gartung, Bob Barks, Jim Martin, Dennis Sprandel, Tom Kaminsky, Bob Wendell and Charlie Kamp.

Pallbearers are nephews, Mark and Lee Bock, Dean, Scott and Layton Beggs, Gary Leadbetter, Billy Heisserer and Larry Beussink.
