Nathan Cooper receives committee assignments

State Rep. Nathan Cooper, R-Cape Girardeau, received two new committee assignments last week. The first-term lawmaker will take a spot on the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules and he will also have a seat on the Special Committee on Urban Affairs. The joint committee, which has five members from both the House and Senate, reviews the regulations written by state government agencies to insure that they comply with the intentions of lawmakers. The panel can hold hearings on controversial rules and recommend to the whole legislature that it overturn the rules. The urban affairs committee will study the issues facing Missouri's larger cities.
