The Oran branch of the Riverside Regional Library recently met and elected officers for the "New Friends of the Library" group. The Jackson Branch of the "New Friends of the Library," a not-for-profit 501(c)3 group of volunteers who raise money to fund library needs, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Riverside Regional Library, 204 S. Union St., Jackson.

Library director Nancy Howland said that the former group, called Friends of the Library, would raise funds and pool those resources to distribute among all six Riverside Regional Library branches at Altenburg, Oran, Scott City, Perryville, Benton and Jackson. The New Friends of the Library groups will hold fund-raisers that benefit their own library branches.
