U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson will speak on world hunger as part of a presentation at Southeast Missouri State University on March 6 that will include serving meals of varying types and portions to illustrate the problem. The event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the University Center Ballroom. Emerson is a board member of Bread for the World, an advocacy group established to help end hunger. Max Finberg, director of the Alliance to End Hunger, also will speak at the event. The public will be encouraged to write letters to lawmakers to adopt policies to address hunger, campus organizers said. Finberg has worked as a special assistant to Ambassador Tony Hall, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Agencies for Food and Agriculture in Rome. Admission is $3 for students and $7 for the general public. Tickets are available at the Southeast bookstore.
