Perryville's season came to a close with a 45-42 loss to Ste. Genevieve in the opening round of the Class 4 District 1 boys basketball tournament Monday at Sikeston.

The No. 6 Pirates (10-15) trailed 15-12 at halftime and could not overcome the deficit in the second half. Tyler Bauwens led Perryville with 14 points, Rick Dunn had 13 and Ryan Lorenz had 12.

Second-seeded Notre Dame will face No. 3 Ste. Genevieve at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the semifinals.

Fredericktown beat Dexter 54-46 in the other opening round game. Sikeston, the top seed, will face No. 4 Fredericktown at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

St. Vincent used a huge fourth-quarter comeback to top St. Pius at home.

The Squaws (9-14) trailed 15-2 at the end of the first quarter and were down by 15 heading into the final frame. St. Vincent outscored St. Pius 22-6 over the final eight minutes of the game.

Alexandra Lundy led nine St. Vincent scorers with 10 points.
