Red stickers alert firefighters to pets

To the editor:

There was a report in Sunday's paper of a dog that died in a house fire. The Humane Society of Southeast Missouri understands that pets are part of a family, and we extend our thoughts of condolence. The society has available -- for a freewill donation -- red window stickers to alert firefighters to the presence of pets inside the home. Fire strikes suddenly and without warning. Please remember your animal friends.
