James Stanley Varnon, 66, of St. Louis passed away Monday, March 6, 2006, at his home.

He was born Dec. 12, 1939, in Harviell, Mo., to John Sam and Pauline Varnon, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Varnon attended school in Morley, Mo., where he spent most of his early life. He retired from his St. Louis nursery business, Varnon Tree Service.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda; two sons, Matthew James Varnon of St. Peters, Mo., John Spencer Varnon of St. Louis; three daughters, Connie Varnon of St. Louis, Jacqueline Jones and Victoria Gowen of St. Charles, Mo.; three brothers, Anthony and Mack Edward Varnon of Cape Girardeau, Richard Varnon of Memphis, Tenn.; five sisters, Deloris Raffety of Clarksville, Tenn., Mary Sue Stacy of Chattanooga, Tenn., Betty Cruse of St. Louis, Juanita Roodman of Morgan Hill, Calif., Patt Sharp of Kennett, Mo.; six grandchildren, Brooklyn, Johnathan, Jacob, Kelly, Jessica and Joseph.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Ziegenhein and Sons South County Funeral Home, 4830 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fairdealing Cemetery in Fairdealing, Mo.
