Sams wins Got Guts! Endurance Run

Adela Sams of Cape Girardeau completed her first marathon and finished as the overall champion in the inaugural Got Guts! Endurance Run on Saturday at the Delaware Park Trail.

Sams actually ran .2 miles farther than a marathon distance, covering 26.4 miles in the 4-hour run.

Twelve individuals and six relay teams participated in the event.

William McCoy IV of Poplar Bluff, Mo., earned the men's overall title with a finish of 24.6 miles.

In the three-person relay standings, the St. Louis Harriers took home the title with a total of 37 miles.

Swinford scores ace at Dalhousie Golf Club

Ken Swinford scored his third career hole in one Thursday when he aced the 13th hole at Dalhousie Golf Club.

He used a 7-iron to ace the par-3 hole playing at 161 yards.

Witnesses were Mark McDowell and Pat Godwin.

All of Swinford's holes in one have come at Dalhousie with previous aces on the fifth and 11th holes, leaving him one hole away from acing all four par-3s at Dalhousie.
