A warrant was issued this week charging a man with firing a gun several times at three other men in Cape Girardeau.

Corey Shannon, 26, whose last known address was in Kansas City, Mo., was charged Wednesday with felony first-degree assault and felony armed criminal action. He is accused of pulling the trigger in the April 18 shooting in the 1000 block of South Ellis Street. No one was injured.

Police were searching for Shannon Thursday night, according to police spokesman Jason Selzer.

The shooting, which occurred around noon on April 18, was apparently over a quarrel between the one of the three targets and family members of Shannon, Selzer said. During the shooting, one bullet shattered a window at 1005 S. Ellis St.

According to one of the witnesses, Shannon was shooting at him and two brothers from a porch on Ellis Street, and then began running toward the trio, firing four to five more shots, a probable-cause statement read.

The witness picked up a .45-caliber pistol dropped by one of the brothers and was able to fire one shot at Shannon before the clip fell out. That weapon was later recovered, but Shannon's was not, Selzer said.

No charges had been filed Thursday against the witness who fired the gun.
