"I'm so proud of these guys," Selanne said of his team, which had six rookies in the lineup for the clinching game. "Not many people in the hockey world believed we could win this series."

The sixth-seeded Ducks will face the seventh-seeded Colorado Avalanche in the second round of the playoffs with the first game Friday night in Anaheim, Calif. Eighth-seeded Edmonton plays fifth-seeded San Jose in the other West semifinal.

"To come here and win in the seventh game is pretty exciting," Anaheim defenseman Scott Niedermayer said. "This is a tough building to win in."

It hasn't been all that tough in Game 7s. The Flames have lost the last four Game 7s played in Calgary, the last coming in 1995.

"Disappointing doesn't even begin to describe the feeling," Calgary's Robyn Regehr said. "All the hard work put in by the guys through the entire regular season to get home-ice advantage. And we don't come out and take advantage of that situation in Game 7."
