Cape Road Runners hosted youth track meet

The Cape Road Runners hosted their second annual youth track meet May 6 with more than 300 athletes from ages 3 to 16 competing.

The Road Runners were among the competing clubs along with the Trinity Lutheran Panthers, Chaffee, Jackson and teams from Kirkwood, Dexter, Poplar Bluff and Sikeston.

The Road Runners were scheduled to compete in a youth track meet Saturday hosted by Chaffee.

Johnson medalist at Kimbeland Country Club

Barb Johnson won the medalist honors Thursday in the Kimbeland Country Club Ladies Golf League.

Vicki Long won the championship flight in the play of the day, while Dixie Jones won the A flight and Dorothy Holland won the B flight.

Mack 12th in MARS after three top-10s

Race-car driver Joey Mack opened the Mid America Racing Series schedule in April with three top-10 finishes.

Mack raced in the five series events and had a best finish of seventh on April 15 at the I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, Mo.

With the MARS schedule breaking in May, Mack will compete in other events, including Southern Regional Racing Series stop Saturday at Checkered Flag Speedway in Hohenwald, Tenn., and an unsanctioned show May 27 at Monticello Speedway in Arkansas.

Mack is 12th in the MARS points standings. The circuit's next race is June 3 at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark.
