The Cape Girardeau Fire Department put out a flaming garage Saturday just in time to save the home next to it. At 3:48 p.m. firefighters responded to calls of a structure fire at 721 Beaudean Lane. When they arrived they found a one-car garage engulfed in flames...

The Cape Girardeau Fire Department put out a flaming garage Saturday just in time to save the home next to it.

At 3:48 p.m. firefighters responded to calls of a structure fire at 721 Beaudean Lane. When they arrived they found a one-car garage engulfed in flames.

The garage was about five feet from a home, and firefighters were able to contain the fire with no damage to the home. The garage was totally destroyed.

Occupant James Dickerson said he had started a brush fire close to the garage and left it unattended. When he returned the garage was on fire. No one was injured.
