The Cape Girardeau Public Library will offer the following youth activities beginning in June:

Summer reading program -- "Paws, claws, scales and tales," begins June 5 for readers and listeners age birth to 12. Participants set their own reading goals and can earn prizes for meeting those goals. Program includes a drawing for a bicycle.

Bicentennial family book discussion -- Discussion of "The New Found Land: Lewis & Clark's Voyage of Discovery" at the Red House Interpretive Center, June 6 at 7 p.m.

Magic storyteller -- Magic, comedy and audience participation with Christopher McBrien, 1 p.m. June 10.

Toddler time -- Stories, activities and other events for toddlers and their parents/caregivers, every Monday at 10 a.m. For ages 18 to 35 months.

Story time -- For ages 3 to 5, Tuesdays or Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Begins June 13.

Lunch bag brunch -- Bring a sack lunch and have a picnic at the library while listening to a story. June 14, 21 and 28 at 11 a.m. For ages 6 to 8.

Early explorers program -- For ages 18 to 35 months, 10 a.m. June 15 and June 22.

Hands on -- Program for ages 3 to 5 with books, crafts and other activities. Begins at 10 a.m. June 22.

Kids Can 1 -- For children ages 6 to 8 at 2 p.m. June 15 and June 29. Includes books, crafts and other activities for children.

Kids Can 2 -- For children ages 9 to 12 at 2 p.m. June 22.

Tuesday 4 Teens -- For ages 13 to 17, at 2 p.m. June 13 and June 27.

How to eat fried worms -- At 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 27 for ages 9 to 12 (includes a worm buffet).
