The Cape Girardeau American Legion junior team won the first two games of its season en route to a 2-0 start in pool play at the Jackson tournament.

Cape Girardeau beat Jackson 11-9 on Friday after beating Sikeston 11-10 in eight innings on Thursday night.

On Friday, Jacob Valleroy picked up the pitching victory. Mark Himmelberg and Dylan Schweer each had two hits.

Himmelberg recorded the win Thursday with a save from Nick Allen. Valleroy and Alex Shell each were 3-for-5, and Shell had three RBIs.

Cape Girardeau plays 4 p.m. today against Kirkwood and 1 p.m. Sunday against De Soto to wrap pool play. The tournament championship is 4 p.m. Sunday.
