Jay Haas won the Senior PGA Championship for his first major title Sunday, beating Brad Bryant on the third hole of a playoff for his third straight Champions Tour victory.

Bryant, who caught Haas with an eagle at No. 16, missed a short par putt on the pair's third trip to the par-4 18th at Oak Tree Golf Club in Edmond, Okla.

Both drove into the fairway but Haas' second shot ended in a bunker. He popped onto the green from there, but Bryant was in better position after chipping onto the back fringe and pushing a long putt close to the cup.

Haas stepped up first and dropped his putt. Bryant missed to the left.

Haas closed with a 3-under 68 to match Bryant (71) at 5 under. The 52-year-old Haas has five Champions Tour victories and also won nine times on the PGA Tour.

Third-round leader Gil Morgan, who shot a 74 on his home course at Oak Tree Golf Club, finished two strokes behind in third place.

PGA Tour

Jeff Maggert won the St. Jude Classic in Memphis, Tenn., for his third PGA Tour title, closing with a 5-under 65 for a three-stroke victory over Tom Pernice Jr.

The 42-year-old Maggert, who began the round three strokes back, finished at 9-under 271 on the TPC at Southwind. He sealed his first victory since the 1999 WGC-Accenture Match Play by rolling in a 36-foot eagle putt on the par-5 16th.

Pernice, who started Sunday tied with Tim Herron for the lead, shot a 71. John Cook, who won here at 26 under in 1996, closed with a 71 to tie for third with Kris Cox (72) at 4 under.

LPGA Tour

Hee-Won Han parred the fourth hole of a sudden-death playoff with Meena Lee to win the LPGA Corning Classic in Corning, N.Y.

It was Han's first win of the year and fifth overall, and three have come in six playoffs. Lee, who finished second here for the second straight year, lost it when her second shot at the par-4 eighth bounced badly away from the green.

Han closed with a 4-under 68 to match Lee (66) at 15-under 273.

European PGA Tour

England's David Howell won the BMW Championship in Virginia Water, England, closing with a 3-under 69 for a five-stroke victory over countryman Simon Khan.
