CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Opal Gertrude Noisworthy, 85, of Charleston died Monday, June 5, 2006, at her home. She was born Nov. 18, 1920, in Miller City, Ill., daughter of Leslie E. and Gertrude Josephine Childers Bowers. She and Paul Noisworthy were married Aug. 29, 1937. He died July 23, 1982...

CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Opal Gertrude Noisworthy, 85, of Charleston died Monday, June 5, 2006, at her home.

She was born Nov. 18, 1920, in Miller City, Ill., daughter of Leslie E. and Gertrude Josephine Childers Bowers. She and Paul Noisworthy were married Aug. 29, 1937. He died July 23, 1982.

Noisworthy had lived in Mississippi County since 1932. She had worked at Knight's Department Store and Duenne Fabric Shop. She was a longtime member of Wyatt United Methodist Church, and later became a member of the United Methodist Church in Charleston.

Survivors include a daughter, Paula Haas of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Dorothy Rodriguez of Quincy, Ill., Mary Smith of Cairo, Ill.; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Roger Jespersen and Harold Norton officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
