Jeff Hine of Cape Girardeau carded a hole in one last week during the Dexter Lions Club charity tournament at Hidden Trails Country Club in Dexter, Mo. Hine used a 6-iron to ace No. 4, a par 3 playing 159 yards. Witnesses were James Banken, Ron Gosche and Roger Arnzen.

Borusiewich scores ace at Cape Jaycee

Danny Borusiewich recorded a hole in one at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course.

He scored the ace on the 140-yard, par-3 third hole using a 9-iron. Witnesses were Henry Pfeil, Kirk Brown and Jason Thaet.

Cook, Stoverink win horseshoes competition

The team of Lachelle Cook and Cori Stoverink won the Southeast Missouri Horshoe Association competition on Sunday at the Knight of Columbus in Leopold, Mo.

Bob Burnett and Darlene Stoverink placed second, while Karen Jansen and Mike Mosse took third.

Jackson duo wins tennis tournament titles

Jackson residents Kim Anderson and Shane Anderson won the women's and men's open singles titles at the 16th annual Ed Nunnelee Memorial Tennis Tournament in Sikeston this past weekend.

Kim Anderson, a Jackson graduate and Southeast Missouri State tennis player, knocked off Alli Wulfers of Normal, Ill., 6-2, 6-0.

In the men's open singles final, Shane Anderson defeated Eric Schrimpf of St. Louis 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Will LaFoe and David Berry of Cape Girardeau won the boys doubles title for the 15- and 16-year-old division. LaFoe and Berry defeated Cameron Tillett and Matt Presley of Lone Oak, Ky., 6-1, 7-6.

Darren Neader of Jackson fell 5-7, 6-3, 6-1 in the men's A singles to Charlie Masse of Sikeston. Also falling in the finals were Sarah Detring and Maura Neader of Jackson in the 17-18 girls doubles. Detring and Neader fell to the team of Jenni DeWitt and Tess Marshall of Sikeston 6-2, 6-1.
