Velma Ethel Holdcroft, 81, of Buckeye, Ariz., formerly of Scott City, died Sunday, June 25, 2006, at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, Ariz. She was born April 6, 1925, in Mount Vernon, Ark., daughter of Johnny Elmer and Vera Kimball Stone. She and Fenton "Wesley" Holdcroft were married Nov. 26, 1944, in Pocahontas, Ark. He died July 8, 1987...

Velma Ethel Holdcroft, 81, of Buckeye, Ariz., formerly of Scott City, died Sunday, June 25, 2006, at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, Ariz.

She was born April 6, 1925, in Mount Vernon, Ark., daughter of Johnny Elmer and Vera Kimball Stone. She and Fenton "Wesley" Holdcroft were married Nov. 26, 1944, in Pocahontas, Ark. He died July 8, 1987.

Holdcroft attended White Tanks Baptist Church. She had attended Cornerstone Wesleyan Church in Scott City.

Survivors include a daughter, Anita Niswonger of Buckeye; three brothers, Johnny Stone of Bono, Ark., Bill Stone of Las Vegas, Nev., Charles Stone of Dyess, Ark.; and a sister, Elda Gray of Edmond, Okla.

She was preceded in death by a daughter and nine brothers.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Roger Christiansen officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Memorial Cemetery in Scott City.
