GOREVILLE, Ill. -- John J. Stegle, 77, of Goreville died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

He was born March 7, 1926, in Cobden, Ill., son of John and Josephine Cerny Stegle. He and Betty Robins were married Jan. 19, 1952.

Stegle was an activity therapist at Choate Mental Health Center. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cobden.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Mike Stegle of Anna, Ill.; a brother, Edward Stegle of Glen Carbon, Ill.; three sisters, Edlein Dillow of Anna, Barbara Sweitzer of Cobden, Emma Harris of Glen Carbon; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Anna from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Dr. Rick Hertenstein officiating. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery.
