Mona Hill

Mona A. Hill, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Aug. 7, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born July 11, 1922, in Bell City, Mo. She and Russell Harris Hill Sr. were married July 21, 1940, in Cape Girardeau County. He died March 12, 1955.

Mrs. Hill was a housekeeper 27 years at Southeast Hospital.

Survivors include two daughters, Becky Shackelford of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., the Rev. Karen Cook of Cape Girardeau; five sons, David, Charles, Russell Jr. and Michael Hill, all of Cape Girardeau, Richard Hill of San Antonio, Texas; a brother, Gus Gregory of California; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three great-stepgrandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Stemmler; a brother, Charles Gregory; five sisters, Beatrice Dohogne, Dorothy Daniels, Emma Wirth, Melba Lounder, LaWanda Gregory; and a grandchild, Tina Nelson.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to service time Friday.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Don Henson and Rev. Karen Cook officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
