Milton Ellebracht, 83, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, at the Arbors Care Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Dec. 19, 1922, in St. Louis, son of William O. and Adele Zaeger Ellebracht. He and Daphna "Laura" Daniels were married April 20, 1946, in Piggott, Ark. She passed away Dec. 14, 2001...

Milton Ellebracht, 83, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, at the Arbors Care Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 19, 1922, in St. Louis, son of William O. and Adele Zaeger Ellebracht. He and Daphna "Laura" Daniels were married April 20, 1946, in Piggott, Ark. She passed away Dec. 14, 2001.

On Feb. 26, 1943, he was inducted into the U.S. Army. He was awarded two Bronze Service Stars for the Northern Solomons and Southern Philippines campaigns. Honorably discharged Dec. 4, 1945, he then served over 22 years in the Army Reserve, with the last rank of sergeant First class.

During his residence in St. Louis, Milton worked at Hussman Refrigeration and Bussman Fuse. He was an honorary dad for Girl Scout Troop 2452 in St. Louis.

Upon moving to Cape Girardeau, he volunteered for the American Red Cross, participated in a genealogy group in Jackson and was a member of VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and Robert Benner of St. Louis, Ellen and Richard Haskell of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Denise (Richard) Bertacchi, James Haskell, Lee Haskell; and a great-grandson, Ryan Bertacchi.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call today, Aug. 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be Monday, Aug. 28, at 1:30 p.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. Raymond McAfee officiating.

Interment will follow in Fairmont Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with VFW service by Post 3838 of Cape Girardeau and Missouri Military Honors.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association.
