LEBANON, Mo. -- Two Lebanon, Mo., teenagers were killed after the car they were in crossed the median on Interstate 44 and was struck by a tractor-trailer, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Brian Mcfadin, 17, and Nicholas Shearer, 16, were killed in the accident Friday night on Interstate 44 two miles west of Lebanon, the patrol said. The boys were pronounced dead at the scene.

The patrol said Mcfadin was driving east on I-44 when his car crossed the median into the westbound lanes and was struck by a tractor-trailer. Both vehicles caught fire.

The driver of the tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries.
