Roy E. Robins, 84, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. He was born Jan. 24, 1922, in Bessville (Bollinger County), Missouri. He and Audell Mabuce were married Nov. 22, 1941. She passed away Nov. 1, 1974. He and Juanita Parsons Mabuce were married Feb. 14, 1976...

Roy E. Robins, 84, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. He was born Jan. 24, 1922, in Bessville (Bollinger County), Missouri. He and Audell Mabuce were married Nov. 22, 1941. She passed away Nov. 1, 1974. He and Juanita Parsons Mabuce were married Feb. 14, 1976.

Roy served in the U.S. Army from Dec. 5, 1942 to Dec. 4, 1945. He was honorably discharged a Private First Class. Upon returning from his military service, he owned and operated the former Millersville Mercantile and Robins Store from 1945 to 1968. He also farmed and trucked livestock to St. Louis from area farmers. He worked as a rural mail carrier in the Millersville-Sedgewickville area from 1968 to 1988.

Roy was a former member of Millersville Baptist Church where he became an ordained deacon and taught adult Sunday School many years. He transferred his church membership to First Baptist Church in Jackson in 1994.

Roy was a 35-year member of the Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 in Jackson. He was also active in the American Legion Honor Guard.

Loving survivors include his wife, Juanita of Jackson; two sons, Edwin Robins of O'Fallon, Mo. and Michael Robins of Jackson; a stepson, Fred (Cheryl) Mabuce of Jackson; five grandchildren, Michelle (Matt) Linhardt, Christie (Mark) Sowers, Alison (Dan) Brightwell, Kyle (Misty) Mabuce, Nicole (Craig) Rhodes; and four great-grandchildren, Rowan and Eleanor Linhardt, Lauren Sowers, and Jack Mabuce.

In addition to his first wife, he was also preceded in death by an infant daughter and a brother, the Rev. Quintin Robins.

Friends may call Wednesday, Sept. 6, from 4 to 8 p.m., at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. An American Legion service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be Thursday, Sept. 7, at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home, with the Revs. Carter Frey and R. L. Robinson officiating.

Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery with graveside military honors. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to First Baptist Church in Jackson, Millersville Methodist Church, or the Missouri Veterans Home.
