The Kage Family and Community Education group recently volunteered and supported Southeast Missouri Hospital Diabetic Foundation's Camp Day Break, which educates youth on growing up with diabetes. The two-day camp at Main Street Fitness provided informative programs including crafts, exercise and field trips.

Kage FCE received a $175 grant from the Missouri Foundation for Family and Community Education Kottman Memorial Fund that provided money for Medic Alert bracelets for campers and for youth throughout the year as need arises. Educational materials for the camp were also purchased and distributed.

Prior to Camp Day Break, Kage FCE members covered 30 boxes for back to school party boxes, which were decorated by campers. The party boxes were filled with snacks and drinks for diabetic children while at classroom parties.

Kage FCE contributed 77 volunteer hours to the project and plans to participate in Camp Day Break again.
