Carolyn C. King, 72, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, at the Lutheran Home. She was born Feb. 11, 1934, in Conway, Ark., daughter of Jarrell Estes and Thelma Grace Wyatt Carter. She and Robert F. King were married May 6, 1957 in Greenville, Miss. He died Feb. 7, 2005...

Carolyn C. King, 72, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Feb. 11, 1934, in Conway, Ark., daughter of Jarrell Estes and Thelma Grace Wyatt Carter. She and Robert F. King were married May 6, 1957 in Greenville, Miss. He died Feb. 7, 2005.

King graduated from the University of Central Arkansas in 1955 and took additional teaching courses at Southeast Missouri State University and St. Louis University.

She taught in Arkansas six years before moving to Perryville, Mo., in 1961, where she taught until moving to Cape Girardeau in 1968. She taught at May Greene School, retiring in 1975. She was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Kuntze of Jackson, Gina "Liz" Smies of Pocahontas; a son, R. Bruce King of Jackson; a sister, Geri Zurcher of Kingston, Tenn.; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gary Belcher officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
