Beussink places first in parochial school meet

Alex Beussink of Immaculate Conception placed first in the seventh- and eighth-grade boys race at the inaugural Running Monk Parochial School cross country meet on Monday at Notre Dame High School.

Beussink finished in 5 minutes, 50 seconds on the 1-mile course. Lance Essner of St. Denis was second in 6:00, and Frank Stallings of team champion St. Henry was third in 6:56.

Christian Westrich of St. Mary won the fifth- and sixth-grade boys division in 6:25, followed by teammate Riley Bauer in 6:29.

Jessie Ritter of St. Mary won the seventh- and eighth-grade girls division in 6:54. Teammates Lessley Pennington and Olivia Roth finished second and third.

Sarah Lawrence of St. Mary won the fifth- and sixth-grade girls division in 7:24. Jenna Greene of St. Paul was second and Shelby Beussink of Immaculate Conception plaed third.
